Chris Jericho Says ‘NXT Sucks’ in Response To Triple H’s Sarcastic Congratulations

Chris Jericho has responded to Triple H’s insinuation that AEW had little to be proud of when they bested NXT in the Wednesday night ratings wars.

During a recent interview with Ariel Helwani ahead of Clash At The Castle, WWE’s executive vice president for Talent Relations and head of creative Triple H responded to rumors that his removal from NXT was related to the fact that NXT struggled in the ratings while going head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

No, look, people put so much pressure on this competitive wars, it never was that,” the Game said. “Look, first of all, they beat our developmental system, good for them. Right?” he added, snarkily.

Triple H’s comments caused quite the stir on social media, with many pundits pointing out that, on more than one occasion, he himself had insisted that NXT was no longer a developmental brand. AEW star Chris Jericho also took issue with Hunter’s comments.

Once again it is just changing the narrative and changing the history, which makes me laugh,” Jericho told Alex McCarthy of Inside The Ropes. “Because when it started, it was not developmental, it was a third brand, it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon, and all the other bullshit that they said, so of course we beat the developmental or whatever you want to call it, but who gives a s**t? It’s such old news, and the show sucks, NXT sucks, it’s not a good show, and they know it,” he continued. Whether they were punished or not, they probably were punished. That’s probably why Triple H said those things because he is angry that we beat them, and he is probably angry that we exist. But you know, we don’t care about WWE, we care about our show, we care about putting on the best stories that we can put on, we care about building our fanbase and building our ratings.”

As his tirade continued, Jericho said AEW will continue to exist and made sure to mention that his boss Tony Khan has more money than Vince McMahon.
