The beginning of 2023 has delivered unexpected bad news for the fans in the form of top WWE Superstar AJ Styles’ injury. The former WWE Champion has been on the news regarding a potential injury that has now been confirmed. He will now have to be on the shelf for several months due to the injury he sustained during WWE’s Holiday Tour live event spree.
AJ Styles got injured at the December 29th WWE Live Event that took place in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The O.C. (AJ, Karl Anderson, and Mia Yim) vs. The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley) was the mixed tag team match lineup from that night when an over-the-top-rope spot got the veteran superstar hurt and the match had to be stopped.
There were concerns regarding AJ Styles’ status as the referee threw the X-sign (which indicates a legitimate injury), stopped the match, and helped the injured superstar to the back. The medical personnel quickly arrived to attend the WWE Raw talent and it was believed that something serious happened to him.
AJ Styles’ injury is legit true as reported by a reliable source
There were some rumors that this one could be a storyline injury, so that The Phenomenal One can show up at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 along with Karl Anderson on January 4th, 2023 in Japan.
However, PWInsider reported the following about the injury confirming that it’s a legit one,
“The AJ Styles injury was 100% legitimate and not part of some sort of storyline work for the show. We are told it was likely an ankle injury and Styles will be getting it checked out ASAP.”
Moreover, AJ Styles himself took to Twitter and admitted that he suffered a broken ankle that may cause him to stay away from in-ring competition for the longest time in his career,
“Just want you guys to know that I’m ok. Broken ankle is what I’m dealing with. No surgery, this just takes some time to recover. This will be the longest I’ve ever been out of the ring. Thanks for the prayers and get well wishes.”
With the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania season up, this is the worst time that someone in the WWE locker room can expect to get injured. However, there’s no perfect time for something like this to happen.
