AEW brings ‘Dynamite’ to Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena

Marc Letzmann was a child rising up in Warren when he was bitten by the professional wrestling bug.

It was 1987 and WrestleMania III was headed to Metro Detroit and Letzmann, like the remainder of his first grade classmates, was caught up within the hype surrounding the colossal occasion, which might pack a reported (and broadly disputed) 93,000 people into the Pontiac Silverdome. Years later as a teen, he made weekly journeys to a Japanese video and bookstore in Dearborn to select up the newest worldwide wrestling tapes, dub them on his VCR and return them to the shop.

Letzmann’s professional wrestling fandom would in the end result in a profession within the ring, the place he wrestled in a facemask underneath the title Excalibur, and he later grew to become a founder and part-owner of the Southern California wrestling promotion Professional Wrestling Guerrilla.

On Wednesday, his journey brings him residence to Metro Detroit, the place he’ll be calling the motion — as Excalibur — as a part of the commentary crew when All Elite Wrestling, AEW for brief, makes its Detroit debut with a dwell taping of its “Dynamite” program at Little Caesars Area.
